Cynthia Connolly is a photographer, graphic designer, curator and artist who lives in the Washington, DC area. She graduated from the Corcoran College of Art + Design, worked for Dischord Records, and booked a seminal avant-garde performance venue, d.c. space. In 1988, she published Banned in DC: Photos and Anecdotes From the DC Punk Underground (79–85) through her independent press, Sun Dog Propaganda. A prolific artist, her photographic work, postcards, and books have been shown both nationally and internationally in solo shows and group exhibitions including Beautiful Losers, which was presented in the United States and Europe from 2004–2009 and was reviewed extensively in publications including Art in America. Her photography is held in many private collections as well as the Smithsonian Museum of American History and the Corcoran Gallery of Art. She is currently the Visual Arts Curator of Artisphere where she curates over 14 exhibits a year including Art on the ART Bus, a mobile gallery in the form of an Arlington Transit bus that displays original artwork by artists with a connection to Arlington, VA. She continually searches the world both as curator and artist to connect disparate places, people, and things.
