Up-in-Arms“ explores relationships between surveillance, clothing, racial stereotyping, and racial profiling by reframing the viewer via hoodie sweatshirtsThis video-installation-social sculpture displays surveillance video -of viewers- on monitors housed in hooded sweatshirts, prompting empathy while reversing expectations of who’s profiling whom. Live video elevates the profiling target: “Arms” bears infants, not weapons.
